What an awesome week we’ve had in the Pathfinders ministry! First, we kicked the semester off with our crossover service where we not only got to see our friend Ronald Jenkies, but we also got to see two up-and-coming future Olympians, Christopher Phelps and Nastia Comostinky! If you missed their debut, you can click here for the action.

The fun continued on Saturday with our Back to School Banzai Blitz. We started off at the Healing Place Athletic Complex (HPAC) with a game of good old fashioned kickball, then headed to Chick Fil A for lunch, then went to Celebration Station for games and putt putt , which was followed by a massive scavenger hunt at the Mall of LA, and finished it off with dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.

The whole day was pure insanity, but I think that the craziest part was all of us running through the Mall of LA trying to complete the list of things that were given to us to get caught on camera. This is what the list looked like…we had to take a picture of:

-a picture of someone dancing with someone on the street, our team taking a picture with a Barbie doll or being dressed up as Ken/Barbie, someone hula hooping, a cowboy hat, toe socks, someone on our team doing a trick on a skateboard, a pony, someone playing a tambourine, our team playing an Olympic sport, a pink umbrella, a beanie baby, something that was made in Switzerland, yellow pillow case with funky designs on it, silly putty in the design of a pencil, a picture with a manikin, a picture with a store worker, one of our team members pretending to faint while getting the assistance of an innocent bystander, the autograph of a janitor, someone eating the biggest bite of ice cream possible, a business card from a random store, someone blowing into a seashell as if it were a trumpet, someone on our team kissing a fish, any document issued by the federal government, and a picture of the cutest kid alive.

Phew! Needless to say, we kept busy. Here are some pics of one team who completed almost the entire list:

And here are more pictures that were taken throughout the entire Blitz:

As you can see, there’s never a dull moment when it comes to Pathfinders, so make sure you don’t miss service this week…it’s Wednesday, August 27 from 6:30-8:30pm at the HPC Annex A. There’s going to be a huge life group fair and maybe another air horn…?? Stay tuned. :)

For those of you who missed all of the craziness last night, we kicked off the Fall semester in true Pathfinders style. Between Mr. Jenkees, Michael Phelps’ little brother, an air horn, a TON of free pizza, and JESUS, the night was nothing short of amazing

Pastor Tyler continued the series Jenkees: “Things Aren’t Always as they Seem” by challenging us to put some power behind our passions and change the world in the name of Christ. Pretty powerful stuff. If you haven’t seen the videos of our friend Mr. Ronald Jenkees, you can check him out by clicking HERE.

And just a reminder for everyone- don’t forget about the BACK TO SCHOOL BLITZ this SATURDAY, AUGUST 23. We’re meeting at the HPC Annex at 11am and having a day of insanity and fun that will finish up around 9pm. Make sure to bring $35 and a sense of adventure, because you never know what’s next…

You never know what you’ll find when you randomly google “banzai…”

Back to the main reason for this post….This just a reminder that tonight is BANZAI night! Make sure you wear your grade’s colors. And the party will continue on Friday with a Banzai Party on the Go. Details to come soon. You don’t wanna miss it.

Here are a few pics from last week’s Epic service where Crystal preached a slammin’ message on investing your time rather than spending it. The house was packed with over 250 j high and high schoolers that are absolutely crazy about Jesus. Get ready for that energy just to pour over into this week’s Banzai service. Get your colors (6th-red/orange; 7th-green/blue; 8th-blue/green) ready and your game face on, cause it’s going to get wild!

Just wanted to drop a line and tell all of you about just a few of the bajillion (is that even an actual number?!) awesome things that Pathfinders will be up to over the next few months.

fuel

First off, there’s Old School and the Core, the Life Groups for 6-9th grade. We just started a new video series called Fuel: Igniting New Life With God’s Story. Come and check us out on Sunday mornings at 10am at the Outreach Building next to the HPAC. If you can’t make it, feel free to participate in some discussions with us online at the FUEL BLOG.

navigate.jpg

Next up, there’s Navigate. Navigate is our summer internship program for j-high kids. It’s an intense, 9-week program designed to take J-high students to the next-level in their relationship with God. This internship program enables students to learn first-hand what Jesus-style leadership is all about, and to build a strong foundation in God’s Word that will ignite a passion to stand up, stand out, and change the world. To sign up, go HERE.

Last up is Submerge. This is summer camp that is designed specifically to equip you to submerge yourself into a deeper relationship with God and each other, as well as a deeper understanding of the life that God intended all of us to live. You DON’T want to miss this…it’s the Holy Ghost party of the summer. Get signed up today….HERE.

Oh and don’t forget that this Wednesday is our EPIC service where we will not only be worshipping with Refuge, but also chowing down on some slammin’ chicken from Cane’s as we continue our “One Love” series.
